    France Visa Document Checklist

A practical checklist of the documents commonly required for a France or Schengen short-stay visa appointment. Exact requirements vary by consulate and purpose of trip — use this as a starting point.

    Core documents (most applicants)

    • Valid passport (identity page, valid at least 3 months after return).
    • Completed France-Visas application form (downloaded PDF).
    • Recent ICAO-compliant passport photo.
    • Schengen-compliant travel and medical insurance (min. €30,000).
    • Proof of accommodation in France.
    • Proof of transport (round-trip reservation).
    • Proof of financial means for the stay.

    Purpose-specific documents

    Tourism

    • Hotel bookings or rental confirmations covering the full stay.
    • Day-by-day travel plan, if requested.

    Family or private visit

    • Attestation d'accueil or invitation letter from the host.
    • Copy of the host's ID and proof of residence in France.

    Business

    • Invitation letter from the French company.
    • Employer letter authorising the trip.
    • Proof of company registration of the inviting party.

    Minors

    • Parental authorisation.
    • Copies of parents' ID and the minor's birth certificate.

    Optional supporting documents

Previous biometrics / previous appointment records, if already available

A BioNET or biometric receipt is usually generated during the appointment process. Upload it only if you already have one from a previous application or appointment. You do not need to obtain one before your appointment.

    • Previous Schengen visas (copies).
    • Previous travel history pages of older passports.

    Tips that prevent rework

    • Scan in colour, full page, clearly readable.
    • Use the same names, dates and addresses across the form and documents.
    • Make sure insurance dates fully cover your travel dates.
    • Make sure financial proof covers the entire stay, not just a few days.

Document requirements vary by consulate. See country-specific checklists for Indian applicants, Moroccan applicants and Algerian applicants.
